Dawn Westmoreland – President

Dawn Westmoreland is a dedicated and hardworking co-owner of Stormwater Operations Specialists (SOS). With a strong background in logistics and project management, she is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring that contracts are executed efficiently, schedules are managed effectively, and payroll and invoicing are handled accurately.

 

Despite her busy schedule, Dawn also finds time to care for her family and give back to her community. She has volunteered as a tutor at the local elementary school and served as PTA President, working tirelessly to support the education and well-being of local children. Dawn is also an active member of the local Cub Scout Pack, serving as Advancement Coordinator and helping to instill important values in young people.

 

Dawn's expertise in stormwater and environmental issues has grown over the years, thanks in large part to her almost 30 years of marriage to the company's founder, Anthony. Her commitment to SOS and the local community is a testament to her passion for making a positive impact in the world.

Anthony Westmoreland – Vice-President

Anthony Westmoreland is a highly accomplished environmental technologist and entrepreneur who has made significant contributions to his field. As the founder and co-owner of Stormwater Operations Specialists (SOS), he has established himself as an expert in sediment and erosion control and stormwater management with over 30 years of experience.

 

Anthony earned his Bachelor's degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering from North Carolina State University, where he also minored in Soil Science. He then spent four years working as an Environmental Engineer/Planner for local government, where he was responsible for enforcing stormwater and sediment and erosion standards.

 

In 2010, Anthony decided to start his own company, SOS, with a focus on helping clients manage their stormwater and sediment and erosion control needs. He currently manages multiple contracts and over 300 sites, and has earned a reputation for his technical expertise and exceptional client service.

 

Outside of work, Anthony is an dedicated outdoorsman who loves to hunt, fish, and hike.He is also active in his community, serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster for his son's Boy Scout Troop and volunteering at the Tuscarora Council activities and events. His passion for nature and environmental conservation has led him to dedicate much of his time and efforts to community service projects that support these causes

John Milkent – Project Manager

John Milkent is an accomplished environmental scientist with extensive experience in hazardous spill cleanup, stormwater management, wetland and invasive plant management, and volunteer work. He studied Environmental Science at Edison State College in FT Myers, FL, where he gained a strong foundation in environmental science.

 

John began his career in the hazardous spill cleanup industry as a field supervisor, where he managed day-to-day operations of two hazardous waste remediation teams. His work mainly focused on removing contaminated soil from petroleum spills. With his expertise, John quickly became an expert in managing and leading teams to successfully mitigate hazardous spills.

 

After several years in the hazardous spill cleanup industry, John left to work for the State of Florida as a stormwater project manager. He was responsible for managing a phase 1 NPDES permit, as well as working in wetland and invasive plant management for the Water Control District. His expertise in environmental science and his strong leadership skills enabled him to excel in these positions.

John later left the State of Florida to work as a stormwater manager with a private company, where his responsibilities included working with multiple stormwater locations nationwide. He was highly regarded for his ability to help clients meet various regional stormwater regulations, and his work significantly contributed to the success of the company.

 

John is also deeply committed to volunteer work and is actively involved with the Alleghany National Forest, Trout Unlimited, and the Audubon Society. He is an avid outdoorsman and works tirelessly to help preserve our natural treasures so that they will be there for future generations.

 

Overall, John Milkent's passion for environmental science and his commitment to preserving our natural resources make him an invaluable asset to SOS. His leadership skills, expertise, and dedication have made him a highly respected figure in the environmental science community.

 

Chase Westmoreland – Operations Manager

Chase Westmoreland is a highly skilled sales and logistics professional who joined Stormwater Operations Specialists (SOS) in 2021 after an impressive 12-year career at a leading regional craft brewery. With a wealth of experience in sales, marketing, and customer relations, Chase has seamlessly transitioned into his role at SOS, where he oversees the Maintenance Division and is responsible for reaching out to new and potential customers.

 

In addition to his professional achievements, Chase is also an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoor enthusiast who is deeply committed to environmental conservation. He is actively involved in several conservation organizations and regularly volunteers his time to help preserve local wildlife habitats and natural resources.

 

Chase's passion for the outdoors and dedication to his work at SOS are a testament to his drive to make a positive impact in the world. His expertise in sales and logistics, combined with his personal interests in conservation and outdoor activities, make him a valuable asset to the company and the community.

Nick Thompson – Repair Division Manager

Nick Thompson is an expert equipment operator who possesses a high level of skill and proficiency in operating various types of heavy machinery. He is known for his attention to detail, and he takes pride in ensuring that every task is completed to the best of his ability.

 

Nick is also a conscientious individual who understands the importance of staying within a budget. He is always mindful of the costs associated with each project and makes sure that resources are used efficiently.

 

In addition to his work ethic, Nick is a dedicated husband and father. He understands the importance of balancing work and family life and makes sure to prioritize his loved ones.

 

Nick's service to his country is also notable, as he is a former US Marine with several active duty deployments. His military background has instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, commitment, and resilience that he brings to every aspect of his life.
